Reverse osmosis filter. Also known as an RO filter, this is the best kind of drinking water filter available for homeowners. These filters work by passing water through a semi-permeable membrane. They’re exceptionally effective at removing organics, metals, and even fluoride. Reverse osmosis filters require some installation….but you will love the taste!
Berkey Water Filter. A good option if you need a portable solution. No installation needed. I recommend using the optional fluoride cartridges if you’re on city water (municipal water). We’ve used a Big Berkey for years. The filters do slow down over time and eventually require replacement, but you can scrub and/or backflow them to extend their life.
There ARE off-brand options for Berkey replacement cartridges, but I avoid them. I’m not convinced they pass the same testing as official Berkey filters.

Sprite shower filter. Don’t take a daily chlorine bath if you can avoid it! We’ve used a Sprite filter for years in our shower, and it’s absolutely great – durable and functional. The hose comes in handy. Easy to install. (Remember, your skin is an organ, and it can absorb chlorine in the shower)
Dr Bronner’s Castile Soap – Great for showering. Natural & Strong.
A little goes a long way. Be careful not to use too much on sensitive areas.
It makes a decent shampoo. It will leave some of your natural oils in place.
To refill empty foaming soap dispensers: just fill a quarter to a third (1/4 to 1/3) of the dispenser with soap, then fill the rest of the way with water. You can add a few drops of essential oil for a stronger scent.
Sal Suds, from Dr. Bronner’s – An all-purpose cleaner. Use it for dishes, floors, sinks, tubs, and more.
This container will last you a VERY long time. I love this stuff!
